The STSA has a clear commitment in developing strong, effective leaders at all levels in schools and empowering teachers to deliver outstanding teaching and learning opportunities for all young people. The STSA offer quality support for developing excellent NQTs, early and middle leaders and sound succession planning for senior leaders and will provide and broker school to school support and CPD which focuses on key areas. Current programmes and activities running under the remit of the Teaching School Alliance include:
- Schools Direct salaried and nonsalaried teacher-training programmes
- NQT induction, support and quality assurance
- Leadership and Middle Leader Programmes
- CPD events covering a range of subjects and school improvement themes
- Action-research projects
- Recruitment and deployment of Specialist Leaders of Education
The headteachers of all three schools in the Slough Teaching School Alliance are National Leaders of Education, and their schools are designated National Support Schools. Langley Grammar School and Lynch Hill Primary Academy are also Appropriate Bodies for NQT induction, responsible for the final decision on whether newly qualified teachers have met the appropriate professional standards at the end of their induction period. Teaching School alliances often overlap geographically and provide opportunities to link together to enhance the provision. The Slough Teaching School Alliance works in partnership with a number of other Teaching School alliances in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire.
